County Tax Bills
To ensure proper credit, tax bills are necessary when making payment. When paying in person, please bring your tax bill(s) with you. If you mail in your payment, please include the top portion of your tax bill(s) and your phone number. If you want a paid receipt, please also include a Self-addressed Stamped Envelope.
The 2021 Collection Dates for Franklin County, KY
(Approved by the Kentucky Dept of Revenue)
November 1, 2021 – November 30, 2021 = 2% Discount Period
December 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021 = Base Amount Period
January 1, 2022 – January 31, 2022 = 5% Penalty Period
February 1, 2022 – April 15, 2022 = 21% Penalty Period
In accordance with KRS 134.119 we accept a United States Postal Service Postmark.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
On February 1, 2022 Delinquent Notices will be mailed for all unpaid tax bills to the homeowner. At the end of our business day on April 15, 2022, all unpaid tax bills will be turned over to the County Clerk for collections, where additional significant fees will apply, and are subject to Tax Sale.
INSUFFICIENT FUNDS
In accordance with KRS 514.040 (4)(b), there is a $50.00 Return Check fee for all returned checks. All tax bills paid by a Returned Check will be Unpaid and additional taxes and penalties may apply.
PAYMENT DROP BOX
(This Drop Box is monitored by 24 Hour Security Video)
You may drop your payment off at the front door of our Office in our secured Drop Box. Please include your telephone number on your check. If you want a paid receipt, please also include a Self-addressed Stamped Envelope with your payment. Do NOT leave Cash in Drop Box.
NEW ONLINE WEBSITE PAYMENT OPTION
A new online property tax payment option will be available for paying 2021 County Property Tax bills.
Online payment of your County tax bill(s) can only be paid through our Sheriff’s website at www.fcsoky.org
When paying online use required information from your 2021 tax bill(s). Fees will apply and will be disclosed prior to submitting your online payment. Online payments can be made with Credit or Debit cards only.
Please note, erroneous payments made on or through any website other than www.fcsoky.org, will not be honored by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT:
- Debit/Credit Cards – A processing/convenience fee will be applied and disclosed prior to processing your transaction.
- Cash
- *Personal & Business Checks, Cashier’s Checks, Money Orders. (Must be for the exact amount)
Our Office does not accept Foreign Funds. We only accept checks drawn on U.S. DOMESTIC BANKS.
*Please make sure your “Written Legal Tender” matches the “Numeric” dollar amount on your check. The “Written Legal Tender” is how the Financial Institutions process and clears each check. If it does not match, we will return your payment for a corrected check.
Checks must also be for the exact amount; no rounding can be accepted.
